Steel Ladle Section & Cribbing

This load is a model of the upper half of a molten steel ladle being shipped on a Reading GSC depressed center flatcar (see 1964 picture below).  The upper section will be joined to the bottom bowl section of the ladle at the delivery site and put into service.  This model load comes complete with the ladle section, base cribbing, side braces and 0.4mm tie-down wire for mounting to a flatcar.  The model parts come fully painted and ready for use. Below is a photograph of a nearly identical ladle which had been in factory use and is in the process of being cleaned. This load will be correct for steel operations in nearly all eras  Also, we have included a photo of the load installed on a GSC flatcar to illustrate the finished result after mounting.

Check back soon for video mounting instructions.

hood type options per prototype

The “flat-land” operating Rock Island ordered their GP40 without Dynamic Brakes. The lack of the dynamic brake blister in the middle of the long hood gave the Rock Island units a unique appearance among GP40 fleets.

sound inside

Tsunami2 Digital Sound Decoders integrate a full-featured sound system, Hyperlight™ lighting effects, Hyperdrive2™ advanced motor control, and a DCC decoder into a single package. Tsunami2 Digital Sound Decoders offer over 50 individual sounds and over 20 lighting effects in each model!

prototype inspired detailing

Open hood doors were a very common sight on hood units operating in the late 1960s-1990s. Our models offer this prototypical detail as an option on our GP40 locomotive models providing five door opening settings per side including closed. Some doors will include a fire extinguisher detail.

operating prototype detail

OPERATING NUMBER ONE FAN will be powering the number one fan in a prototypical manner. The number one fan is prototypically the fan that operates nearly constantly with fans two and three only being powered up when needed.
